ADOLESCENT PROGRAM
PROGRAM OVERVIEW (GRADE 7 to 9)
Skyridge Montessori’s Adolescent Program encourages students to embrace their future with confidence and enthusiasm,
inspired by the gift of self-knowledge and a lifelong passion for learning.
Adolescents are at a truly unique time in their development, socially, emotionally and intellectually. They have a need for independence, strenuous physical activity, meaningful social interactions and growth, channels to express their interests and personal strengths and opportunities to serve their community. Knowing this, life inside our adolescent classroom will simulate the richness and diversity of life outside our walls, providing students with academic, practical life, citizenship and social opportunities that encourage the development of the whole person.
The world is shifting at an accelerated pace. At Skyridge Montessori, we believe that an educated person in the 21st century is a well-balanced individual, meaning they are an intellectual and an athlete, an innovator and community-minded and have the determination, confidence and ability to set and achieve goals.
As an intellectual, our students will be guided to be proficient in social studies, mathematics, science, languages, and the arts. Each student is a citizen of the world and will learn how to communicate in at least one other language in addition to English.
As an athlete, students will be encouraged to challenge their individual physical strength and endurance while understanding the importance of safety, health and overall well-being.
As an innovator, our students will be provided the freedom to dream, create, and follow their passions and interests to ‘think big’ and solve issues.
As community-minded individuals, our students will collaborate with their peers, cooperate on projects, and be given opportunities to provide meaningful service to others.
Finally, as a member of an increasingly digitally-based world, our students will learn to be proficient and safe users of technology.
Skyridge Montessori students are inspired to be the architect of their own future; learning from their peers, teachers and community members to live an authentic life, beyond perceived boundaries.
