CURRICULUM
Skyridge Montessori’s student-centered model allows students to practice the principle of freedom with responsibility, providing developmentally appropriate activities and challenges for each student to experience and master. Following Montessori theory, we strive to create a learning environment where students may freely choose to engage in activities appropriate to their intrinsic motivation to learn. These experiences will encourage and promote the gaining of skills and competencies, confidence and knowledge, that will enable students to master their individual, pre-determined goals.
Learning is cooperative, not competitive, and much of the learning is peer-directed. However, we will also follow the curricular learning outcomes set out by the BC Ministry of Education. Students will be guided to create weekly outlines and establish monthly goals to track their learning progress and this information will be shared with parents.
Our learning environment will be supported by one lead guide, our Director of Education, Catrin Webb, and a classroom assistant, as well as visiting specialists.
